Food issues have dominated the on-going conference on land policy in Africa. The event which is being organised by the Africa Development Bank (AfDB), is aimed at stimulating policy dialogue dedicated to promoting good land governance on the continent. The programme took off on the 25th and will end on 29th November 2019 in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
The German Ambassador to Cote d’Ivoire, Mr. Benjamin Laag bemoaned, “With better land governance, Africa can stop spending $35 billion dollars annually on food importations”. He continued that, “Africa as a rich continent with vast agricultural and land resources, Africa should be able to feed all her people without any problems”.
This year’s gathering is hosted by the African Development Bank under the theme: “Winning the fight against corruption in the land sector, sustainable pathways for Africa’s transformation”.
